    Thanks, everyone for the advice and videos!

    An update to my quilt: I ripped out two places around the star and the center now lays flat. Not sure that I will remove any borders, though. I did remeasure the quilt top and it is out of square, but if it can be "stretched" during the quilting process, I'll be happy. If not, I can put on a final border for the quilter to cut into.

    I hadn't thought about washing it to lay flat. Hmmm . . .

      Don't wash prior to quilting or you will end up with lots or frayed places.
