    Orange peel question

    Good evening!
I am starting a new quilt today and because I love this pattern so much I will make an orange peel quilt and I seem to become a little bit selfish because this will be the second quilt I am making, that will stay in my house.

The last time I used charm packs for the orange peels and the backround like Jenny in her tutorial. This time I have a layer cake for the peels an yardage for the backround. So here comes my question... do I have to cut 5" squares for the backround and sew 4 together for each block, or can I cut a 9 3/4 " block for the backround and sew 4 peel shapes on?

Thanks in advance and have a nice weekend !

I think that is a great idea! Here is one on one piece instead of four. I might try it myself!

That's a good idea, but I think I would stay with a 10" square. Don't you usually lose some of the square you will be appliqueing the orange peels to? You can trim the square to all the same size when done.
