    Finishing Suggestions for Christmas Panel

    Morning all!

I have this adorable Christmas panel that I wanted to throw together, with a much simpler border too. Any suggestions on quilting it? I really want to do something VERY simple. I am not a good FMQer on my home sewing machine. I usually rent a long arm for FMQing. What about diagonal...wavy lines? ARGH! I DON'T KNOW! I really want this to be simple and FAST. I will most likely be using it as a hanging decoration! I appreciate suggestions!

I did a panel a few years back - the flag panel with the lights - I used my walking foot and quilted straight horizontal lines using clear thread. Spaced them about 2 inches apart. Used the long metal guide that comes with the walking foot. Since it's a panel, it's easy to quilt from any direction so I alternated sides so the panel would not look warped from quilting all left to right. Also it hangs nicely.

Straight lines sounds good to me.

How about radiating lines such as done by Jacquie Gering with a walking foot. Its fast and super simple and will complement the tree shape. You can see an example right near the beginning of this preview video

I think swirls in the white portion would make it look like snow.

Straight lines would look great. If you don't have a guide on your walking foot you could use the blue painters tape as your guide. I have done that and it works great. When you take the tape off you don't have the residue from the tape.

straight lines or BUBBLES -- the latter would add to the whimsy.
