Can someone please tell me how big a quilt I will get from 1 layer cake with Jenny's pattern. I know I have seen it somewhere but can't find the sizing. Thank you in advance.

Re: Double slice pattern
I'm working on one now. 6 rows across and 7 down. It has one 5" border around and measures about 64 x 72. I've made several this size and it makes a nice size snuggle quilt. Just one layer cake and additional fabric for borders.Last edited by Sharyn J; November 27, 2016, 04:13 PM.

Re: Double slice pattern
I've done a number of these and find if you can add 6 more blocks to go 8 rows, plus add a border, it makes a decent size twin bed quilt. And you can cut 6 pieces of border fabric at 10" square and easily add it randomly throughout the quilt, just to make it a tad bit longer. Double slice is a great pattern to use for large scale prints, like kids prints, because your pieces of fabric aren't cut up so small!

Re: Double slice pattern
That's a good idea, Jean. I have a couple of metres of fabric which reads white from a distance which will tone well with the layer cake. Then I could put it on the spare bed. If I take it nice and steady I should be able to quilt the larger size on my DSM.
Thanks for the advice.

Re: Double slice pattern
Hi,
for the double slice layer cake quilt, finished (quilted and bound) but not yet washed...the size (of one I made) for the layer cake body of the quilt is about 58" x 49.5" (give or a take a tiny bit). The border is not included in that measurement.Last edited by Irene221b; November 28, 2016, 12:43 PM.
