    Mixed fabrics

Today I got my latest Missouri Star order. 2 layer cakes. I goofed and one is flannel...can I mix the cotton with flannel in a baby quilt? The pattern is a variation of a rail and post Thanks in advance. Pat

I have done it before. Don't forget that flannel is more stretchy.

Sure you can. Its your quilt...your rules. And, it will be pretty.

Yes, you can! You can either use the flannel as the backing, or you can use both the flannel and the regular fabric on the top. In fact, I kind of like using both on the top in a baby quilt - it gives the baby some differing textures to feel.

Besides the "stretchier" part about flannel make sure you have a solid seam allowance, flannel can fray it's way loose if too scant but it is sweet in a mixed baby top.
