Another quilter told me to use Northcott Ultra Black. Thanks for all the info on blacks.

Oh that is good to hear. I was debating buying the black on massdrop. I plan to do some stained glass quilts.

I use Keepsake Quiltings Amish black. It is the deepest one I could find.

Someone here did such a nice comparison of whites that was so helpful. Forgive me, I can't remember whom at this moment. I love Preeti's idea of using a different type, some texture. I wish there was a lot more info on solids out there!

My current favorite solids are Free Spirit and RJR. FS I only have light shades in, so that's no help. RJR dark dark blues that I have don't show any lint, that might be one to try. And of course many might be different after washing the factory finish off....

I have Kona black, very linty, and shreddy, I'm not a fan except it is a rich black. My other black I'd have to doublecheck, but it's nearly as linty, possibly Moda Bella.

[QUOTE=songbird857;914865]Another vote for Bella solids - love how they feel.[/QUOTE

I prefer the Bella solids for the same reason.

I've not used the black but the American made brand solids I have used are really nice. Otherwise I like the Bella vs Kona. I think it's just feels nicer.

Ok, before you buy, do take a look at the faux burlap line at Connecting Threads.
I bought the charcoal, because I did not want to use a solid black. And I love it.

I just did a Disappearing 9 Patch using Northcott ultra black: http://store.brooklynfabric.com/nort...id-ultra-black

I also like Bella Solids, but haven't tried their black.

FYI -- be prepared for lots of lint/fuzz (or pet hair!) to stick to and be seen on BLACK FABRIC!

I have only used Bella. I was wondering about michael miller solids. Massdrop has 12 yd bolt on sale right now. Comes to $6.92 a yard.

    Anyone seen this in person?

Do all SOLID black fabrics pick up lint/fuzz? The ones I have purchased have been like that. I now stay away from buying solid blacks.
    I buy from local shops.
