Quilt Top - YEAH!

[Longstocking]

I am so excited to finally have this quilt top done. I wanted to sew the Death Star in so I cut a hole in my quilt top. I measured at least 4 times. Rechecked and rechecked, cut. And, it was a bit too big. Oh it was a nightmare to finangle and fix. But, I think it works. Biggest problem is there's a bit of extra fabric mostly in the Death Star. Not a ton, so that should be able to quilt out, right?
Does it need more silhouette ships?
Lastly, I was planning on this fabric for the border. Is it too dark with such a bright orange quilt? I love this pattern with the swirls and stars and wish it came in grey!

Very cool! I would put more of the ones that look like an H. I remember there as a ton of those flying around. The swirl fabric is cool too!

Wow! The Force was with you for sure! Is it for you? I think if I made that for a gift I'd have to keep it and gift something else, haha!

Are you quilting it yourself? If you're having a LA do it I'd be sure to discuss the Death Star so you don't get back a Death Egg. Kind of hard to tell from the pic if it will quilt out. If there is a lot extra that needs to be tucked, I can see how that could be done creatively for texture.

The border looks great to me, but I like high contrast. I'd probably bind it in that also.

My son would be so excited if I had a clue about any thing star wars but alas, I lost interest in 1972 and never got it back

First off I have to say I just love that! I would never have thought to use the orange for the background but that is perfect. If it was me, I might add a couple more little ships, maybe 2 or 3 more but no more than that. And I think the border fabric is perfect - black always looks great with orange.

If you are taking it to a longarmer for quilting, they will work their magic and get it out. I found a tutorial on youtube addressing things just like this. By the way that quilt is going to loved till its death!

Wow!! Awesome quilt! And the background fabric looks perfect. It's a space adventure after all
