Help with pattern Mosaic Quilt by Studio E fabrics

The pattern says to cut (8) 3 1/2 " strips and then cut:
    (32) 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 rectangles
    (36) 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 squares

Does this mean to cut them from the 8 strips that you have cut all ready?

Hope someone has made this and can help me.
    Thank you!

Ususally the additional cuts are from the preliminary strip cuts.
Just love everyone. I'll sort them out later. -God

Yes, they should be cut from the strips you cut.

I thought it might say sub cut or something. I guess I will continue on! Thank you !

What are the construction steps? This should indicate what you will need. You might start with fewer cuts, sew then decide if you wish to continue.

Best wishes for many successful projects.

Since your first direction doesn't tell you how long your strip is, I would just assume you are cutting the rest of the pieces from those strips. Sort of like making your own jelly rolls and cutting them into strips.

              http://studioefabrics.net/projects/M...2014_final.pdf

The yardage requirements for that pattern, if you are cutting those strips from one fabric, allow for you to cut up to twelve strips. Depending on the width of your fabric, my math says that you'd need to actually cut more to get the pieces you need.

              3 strips cut into 3.5 x 3.5 = 36 squares if the fabric is 42 inches wide

If your fabric is at least 42.5 inches wide, you'd get 5 of the 3.5 x 8.5 rectangles per strip, for a total of only 25 of 32 from the remaining 5 strips the instructions call for. Two more strips need to be cut to get the six additional rectangles.

Maybe someone else can check my maths, I've been awake for over 24 hours.

Cute pattern, it reminds me of the baby quilt I finished recently, except for the partial seams bit.

Can you double check to see if there is a correction to the pattern?
My math is the same as sisterDi's
If you use 42.5 as available WOF at 8 strips = 340 inches

                32 @ 8.5 in = 272 inches
                36 @ 3.5 in = 126 inches

                You need a total of 398 inches - 340 = 58 inches short (2 strips)
