A while ago I bought the Ornamental Splendor layer cake while it was on sale. I would like to make a quilt to be raffled off for a nonprofit organization I belong to, but I'm wondering what pattern would be better. My go to layer cake pattern is the Double Slice, but I was thinking of doing it with 1 1/2" sashing between each piece for a variation. But then I saw the Lattice Quilt pattern on YouTube recently and was wondering if that would be better? Here is a picture of the fabrics in the collection: OrnamentalSplendor.jpg

Overly simple,,, but this makes up very nicely and was loved by almost everyone i showed it too.... Actually looks better without the mixed sashing,,, but that part is whatever you choose... just thought i would share, in case..) GB

This would be nice with the right color corners.

I just made this one from my Cardinal Reflections layer cake. You need 10 lights for the sashing. The sashing blocks are cut 2" x 10", and the cornerstones are 2" x 2". You'll need 1/2 yard for the inner 2" border, and then your outer border you'll need to figure out depending on your width. I purchased 1.25 yards for a 6" border. Cardinal REflections.jpg

This is kind of what I had in mind, but I think I like it even better! Looks like you cut them all in half, then cut one stack in half again. Then sash them all. LayerCakeQuilt.jpg

Re: Help me decide on quilt pattern for layer cake!
Sometimes I like the fabrics so well, I don't want to cut them up... in one case... I made a Falling Layer Cake... it worked well and I really like it. It also makes one Layer Cake go much farther.. and a bigger quilt. It was really easy too.
