Cardinal Reflections flannel layer cake made into this quilt?

    Hi all,
I have a Cardinal Reflections layer cake, and while looking up ideas on what to make with it, I came across this quilt: https://www.flickr.com/photos/thequi...et/2968516901/

I think I figured it out that the sashing is made from 2" x 10" cuts from several blocks, and then the cornerstones are 2" x 2". My question is, do you think the flannel will hold up okay in the sashing? What are some other favorite patterns for flannel besides rag quilting?

I'm planning on using anti-pill fleece on the back, no batting.

    Thanks for any input!

I did Jenny's Double Slice with a flannel layer cake. It is my favorite cuddle quilt. I once bought a flannel jelly roll and made Jellyroll Jam 2 quilt. It was not fun to do-- strips were not cut well and streched a lot. I didn't like making it or the finished quilt but one of my friends loved it so I gave it to her.

One of my favorite quilts made with flannel is the teacup quilt. It took one layer cake and went togeth r quickly. It doesn't have dashing so I can't help you with that part.IMG_0168.jpgIMG_0168.jpg

Sorry about the double pic - doing this from my phone.

I think the Double Slice would be perfect because the pieces aren't cut too small. The quilt looks difficult but it's super simple.

I made Jenny's Window Paned Disappearing 9 Patch in flannel for DH. It's really warm and has held up very well.

Also, several years ago I made oldest son the Fons and Porter Brick Quilt in flannel. It was all 3 1/2" X 6 1/2" (unfinished) rectangles. Every other row would begin and end with a half rectangle so the bricks were offset. Found wide flannel for the backing.

Thanks, gals! I went ahead and made it up like the one I had pictured. I finished it today! I just ordered fabric for the inner and outer border. I actually didn't realize you had to add the daily deal to your cart until after I submitted my order. I spent over $60, do you think they'll still send me the free charm pack? I sent them an email. Hopefully I'll still get it! I didn't want to cancel as I used three different gift cards.
