It calls to cut the main teal fabric length wise how do you do that and keep everything even ? I have never cut fabric length wise

I like cutting length wise for borders. If I'm afraid of elbows, I will use a large cutting table and not fold the fabric and just cut, scoot the fabric, line up the ruler, cut, scoot, line up, etc. till I get to the end. Takes longer but might be less stressful. Using a 6" X 24" ruler helps too.VonnieComment

I am doing the sew along. I don't like my block one, I think I am going to redo it! I have got a fortune invested in this quilt....I better like it. I ordered a FQ bundle and it did not have most of the fabric that she called for. So, I had to order more. I ended up getting some fat eighth panels. I really like them, several colors in one yard! But I still don't have the main sashing color. I changed the pink blocks to baby blue that you put appliques onto, not much into pink."She who dies with the most fabric wins"

The great thing about length wise fabric is you can snip a bit at at the raw edge and then rip the fabric all the way to the other end. Because of how the fabric is woven, your line will be straight with the grain. Then you can fold that piece up and rotary cut it to even the edge as there is a tad of a frayed edge.Blogging ahead.....research in quilting and sewing with a dab of cooking/recipes too.

My mother is doing these blocks with the christmas fabric. She is opting not to put the center applique in the block. It is very pretty alone and could be dressed up with nice fmq in the center.Blogging ahead.....research in quilting and sewing with a dab of cooking/recipes too.
