Re: Durability of needle turn applique vs machine applique
you can always use fray stop on the edges before you turn them. I've never had a problem with my needle turn but I tend to turn a bit bigger seam allowance than most. I like satin stitch for when you really want the piece to pop but my blanket stitch I use for needle turn is almost invisible.

Durability of needle turn applique vs machine applique
Do any of you have any recommendations on the durability of needle turn applique for a quilt that would possibly be washed all along? Is fraying more likely than if a machine satin stitch was used? Maybe I'm worrying about this because I have some doubts about my ability to keep the seam allowance and stitches consistent doing needle turn. Any thoughts or tips? Thanks in advance!Tags: None
