Durability of needle turn applique vs machine applique

Do any of you have any recommendations on the durability of needle turn applique for a quilt that would possibly be washed all along? Is fraying more likely than if a machine satin stitch was used? Maybe I'm worrying about this because I have some doubts about my ability to keep the seam allowance and stitches consistent doing needle turn. Any thoughts or tips? Thanks in advance!

you can always use fray stop on the edges before you turn them. I've never had a problem with my needle turn but I tend to turn a bit bigger seam allowance than most. I like satin stitch for when you really want the piece to pop but my blanket stitch I use for needle turn is almost invisible.
