Bulky seams - what an I doing wrong?

I have just finished a lap quilt using pinwheels for one of Jenny's tuts but the area where the seams meet is very bulky if you know what i mean! I would like to do the pinwheels again but need to sort out how to reduce the bulk before doing more, can anyone help please. I am not a particularly experienced quilter.

Here is the first video I found on how to spin open the center seam to reduce bulk. It only takes a few seconds and it makes a big difference in reducing bulk, and in getting the block to lay nice and flat

I like this one for swirling the middle too. She's so funny.

Thank you so much, I knew I could rely on you for the answer. As I haven't quilted the topper yet I can go back and 'squish 'em good'. Love Eleanor and she has given me an idea for a new quilt in purples. You know how it is - buy the fabric because it looks pretty then think of what to do with it haha!!

The Clover Pen will help relax the fabrics so they'll press down better. If all else fails, use a wooden mallet & a board to flatten them. When doing pinwheels, I press my seams open so there is less bulk where they come together.
