How Wide Does a Scalloped Border Start?

    Hi All!

I'm making a sashed charm pack quilt for my DGD and would like to make a scalloped border. I'm using three charm packs, so the finished size before borders will be 56"x74".

I've looked everywhere, including in the Eleanor Burns very thorough book that comes with her Scallops, Vines & Waves ruler. No where can I find how wide the border should be before you cut the scallops into it.

Any advice? I'd be so grateful!

Lorie, that's fantastic! I looked at the transcript of the tutorial and noticed Jenny didn't say how wide the border was, so I didn't go watch the tutorial. But I completely agree, that looks like a five-inch border!

      Thank you so much!
