    Cut up jellyroll top

Why I did it, I don't know, but I sewed a patriotic jellyroll together so that all the strips are horizontal.

As a result the top is too narrow and I want to cut it up and piece whatever blocks I can get out of it. I just can't figure out how to cut it up. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

I would rip them out at every fourth strip and cut them up into even squares. From there you could make a rail fence. Or put two squares together, opposite directions, sew all the way around and cut them corner to corner. I forget what tute that is. Or cut them vertically into 2 1/2'' strips, sew them back together in opposite directions to make a postage stamp quilt. One more is to make a coin quilt.

    Is that too many?lol

Have a look at " Jelly Roll Jam Quilt" at the FatQuarter Shop site. It is a free pattern , uses strip sets of 6 . The original pattern is a small throw but I believe there are instructions some where to make it bigger.

Your welcome! I had a similar problem and wanted to take it apart. One more could be four or nine patches and add white sashing.
