    Calculating backing?

I'm sure there is a formula... if someone could direct me to it. My quilter usually provides whatever backing I want. But, the last few quilts I sent off, I added the backing. The last quilt, I added way too much. She sent 1.5 yards back to me and a huge piece that she cut. Equivalent to 1/2 yard. So now, I am wanting to learn how to be more accurate.

I used the Robert Kaufman app to figure the last one... I guess his calcs are generous?

Anyway... a quilt 65 X 75.... how much? Thanks in advance!

Procrastinate. It frees up time to quilt!

I would buy about 4 yards. That is not using a calculator. You would end up with one horizontal seam and a piece about 72 x 84 giving you plenty of margin around your top.
