    Re: Blender Fabric?

I must be brain dead today because the first thing I thought of when the term "blender fabric" came up I thought ;"Why put fabric in a blender"?

Blenders can be used in lots of ways. I'm piecing the Jelly Girl pattern by Joanna Figueroa. I thought I'd use up a jelly roll of Fusion Blooms since I hadn't found another use for it. Obviously just laid out. There will be sashing in the same Snow as the connecting triangles.jelly girl layout.jpg

So-called "blender fabrics" used alone can be VERY interesting. I do it all the time.

Blender fabrics are fabrics that usually aren't interesting in of themselves, solids & those with very little variation. You can use them with other fabrics to help harmonize the quilt - by selecting a blender fabric that may have the same hue as the print of the other fabrics.

A lot of manufacturers will have an extensive range of colors in their "blender lines" to help coordinate with their other prints. Usually these will have an extended print run, as opposed to the "once and done" mentality of other prints and designs. Kaufman's kona solids might be an example of a blender line, as well as Hoffman's 1895 batiks.

I made this one from a grey blender and solid red. Both fabrics are 108" quilt backings - bought the grey from Hobby Lobby with my 40% off coupon! The pattern is called "Twin Sisters" and I bought it from Connecting Threads.

They are fabrics that come off as a solid without being a true solid.

    These are great examples too

This quilt was made from a FQ pack of blender fabrics

Many many modern quilts are made from just a few solids and or blenders.

    Blender Fabric?

Hi, I fell in love with a blender fabric. And I was wondering has any one made a quilt just using a single blender fabric and maybe a solid?

I know it's not necessarily a popular choice. Blenders, are well, blenders. Or maybe not.

If you have, would you share your quilt with me please? I would love to see.

    Thank you!
Working...
