Best/Easiest way to finish a quilt

    Hi, Everyone.

After watching about 14 hours of quilting tutorials, I am very comfortable with cutting and sewing the quilt top, and I making the quilt "sandwich" wasn't as hard as I thought - yay.

I am a little concerned with the how to best finish the quilt for a beginner. I've seen cutting off a binding strip, and finishing the quilt that way, but I'm wondering if that is the best way. I've also seen how to do a mitered (sp?) edge, and I become somewhat confused then thought I would worry about that when I got to it, and now I'm to it.

I've also noticed that the tutorials here don't get that far into the quilt making process.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to do it, and maybe with the right technical words I can look up a tutorial?

    Thanks So much!

    Sarah

There is a great tutorial on binding your quilt. I used it when I started quilting and I get perfect mitred corners every time.

Jenny is great at explaining things.

I have the exact same question. I've seen the video but I'm wondering what to do when you flip it over. How do you hand stitch those corners down to make it look all pretty?

It looks like she's going in exactly where she came out, so almost like she's back stitching ? I'm sure it's something that takes practice to be that perfect - but MAYBE NOT!

There is another good tutorial on the Oh, Fransson! blog. It doesn't have a video but it has very clear pictures.

              Hi, There.

I have seen other tutorials she's done but not this one for some reason - very very helpful.

I have also seen it sewed on the machine using the stich in the ditch...I think it looks good both ways.
