Square In A Square Pattern (AKA Square Dance)

I am getting ready to purchase supplies for this pattern and wondered if anyone else had done this quilt. Is the supply list from the tutorial accurate or will I need more of certain things? Reading through some of the comments has me wondering.

Yes, I made something similar. I used black honey buns rather than white.Square-in-a-Square Quilt #2 - Feb. 2015 001.jpgSquare-in-a-Square Quilt #2 - Feb. 2015 008.jpg I did not use sashing. I made 2 quilts from 1 set of Fusions charms & framed them with the 2.5" strips, also in the Fusions line. There are other close-up pics in my albums.

To make the full size pattern will I be fine with:
      1 Charm
      1 Jellyroll
      1 Honeybun

That is what the tutorial says. I plan to use a white honeybun around the edge and gray jellyroll around the outermost edge. The one in the tutorial has a bit more around the edge, but I'm not sure I will do all of that.

From what I remember, you will need to cut two extra jelly roll strips from your border fabric to include with the original 40, because you need 1 jelly roll strip per block. You will be fine with one honey bun and one charm pack.

I used 1 charm pack, 1 jelly roll, and cut my own sashing. The left over jelly roll strips completed the border.

              I've done it. I used...

              1 charm pack
              1 coordinating jelly roll
part of one white honey bun
part of one white jelly roll

I had a white jelly roll already opened in the project bin... it was really an accident that I sashed with Jelly rolls, but it turned out well.

that list made two lap quilts.

Hello Megan and welcome to the forum. In case you are more comfortable with printed patterns, this tutorial was printed up as a pattern and is available in the Quilt shop. It is called Square Dance. Also the back of the pattern is shown with amounts to purchase.

Welcome to the forum. Lucky girl to be able to go to MSQC to shop. As I am on the West coast it would be somewhat of a jaunt for me. I am sure the girls in the stores will also be able to help you. This is a pattern I hope to make someday too.

I'm not going to the store until Thurs evening, but I went ahead and picked out my fabric for this pattern. I'm going with a white honeybun along with these.

I have never sewn with Minky. I hear it has its challenges. I have no plans to use it for anything.
