    Magnetic Closure

I was wondering if Jenny has a tutorial on how to put a magnetic closure on a purse. I am going to make the 3 purses from 1 charm pack and I thought I would put the magnetic closures on these purses.

I don't think she does, but they work best if there is stabilizer in the area where you put them. If you are putting them on the lining fabric, if the pattern does not call for any stabilizer, still stabilize at least the area that the magnetic clasp goes in. I didn't do enough (or any?) on my mom's bag and that is the spot that the fabric ripped. Those magnets can be kind of strong!

Google inserting magnetic snaps and you'll find a few videos and tutorials. They are really easy to do.

It is just like using a paper brad. Do use some stabilizer behind them. Sometimes I just add a piece of thin felt. I just hold it in place while I cut the fabric and the felt at the same time.

Those magnets are easy peasy! Just make sure and do what the others said....something behind each piece for reinforcement or the fabric will rip. I usually use a scrap of peltex, but I have also used fun foam (the sheets of foam) and that also works great.

They're very easy to do. As others suggested, use a stabilizer.
