    Re: Friendship Braid lap quilt

Hi there, I made a friendship braid quilt with ONE jelly roll. It turned out to be a large lap/ small twin size. This was a Dark Bali Batik's Jelly roll, and was given for a charity auction for a friend with cancer.

Very pretty! Was this done with the binding tool as a template?

Yes, Jean, exactly! It is the one that Jenny did with the binding tool. I just sewed the braid into one huge long strip, and cut it into the five panels that I needed. Then I cut and stitched the scraps into a very long thin strip, and cut it to length to make the little embellishment rows on the top and bottom. This one really is more of a twin than a lap.

That worked out really nice. Nice choice of fabrics for that braid.

The one I made w/the half hexi, which is a tad different, I also used just one jelly roll.

If you go to the other thread that Jean posted there is a tute that doesn't use a tool.

Really pretty! I want a friendship braid quilt just for me. They make me smile. So, now that I know how well a jellyroll works for them, I'll be keeping my eye out for just the perfect one. Thanks for sharing your success.

I'm sorry, but I have no clue. I bought it from Craftsy probably three years ago, however, I have seen it on here as the DD in the past nine months. Let me go look in the shop......

I have no idea......one of the fabrics (it's there in three different colors) has the words 'caring' and 'kindness' and some others I can't recall. I made it for my sister as she went thru chemo last year.
