    jelly roll

Hi, Ive just started to learn quilting. Im in Germany with the military and its hard to find teachers. Thats why you tube and the videos Jenny puts out there are AWESOME!!

My question is, if i use a jelly roll to make a quilt, how many strips will I need to leave off to make a boarder?

If you take away strips for a border, your quilt will end up long and skinny. I am assuming you are going to make it using the jelly roll race technique. You would need to use about 6 strips for a border.

If you make a jelly roll race quilt, you won't have to put a border on it unless you want to. I have made about 6 of those pretty little things. I have never put borders on any of them.

Are you talking about a border or the binding? I haven't put borders on any of my jelly roll quilts and I've made 6 or 7 of them. Either way...it would be what Jean said.
