    Using a walking foot

    Greetings,

I have heard from some seasoned quilters that they like to use the walking foot for piecing. It makes for straighter seams and points more on target. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

    Many thanks,
    Ann

    Re: Using a walking foot

Most of my piecing is done on my Pfaff which has the IDT (a built in even feed) so all my piecing is more or less done with a walking foot. I do know that when sewing long strips together I never get the bows a lot of people get.

I piece with my 1/4in. Foot.... No problems... But, I can see where aces liking go it might help to use a walking foot.

I use my walking foot for thicker fabrics like flannel, or doing SITD quilting. I have a 1/4" presser foot which I use for piecing. JCY

I have a walking foot, but have never used it. I'm a little afraid of it.

When I was assembling my summer in the park top, I started just using my 1/4" foot. There seemed to be a problem getting over the thicker seams. I switched to my walking foot and had no issues after that!

              WOW.
A walking foot for piecing? The darn thing is just so clunky!
I can't imagine, but then again I've never tried....

I personally don't like using the walking foot for piecing.
