I'm off to great start, need finishing ideas!

My last quilt (Irish Chain) finished off beautifully, thanks to you guys.
The latest was another spontaneous sort of happening. My BFF is facing surgery in April. So I decided to do a simple 6" block, (boring) and then had an awakening! Slice 'em in half, and offset them! I am intrigued. It's turning out better the I envisioned!

Now, go easy, chicas. I've only sewn together a couple of rows, and the rest is stuck on the design wall. It will finish off as a large throw. (She like to hang out on her couch)

Here's what I'm thinking. A thin (2") border of the butterscotch fabric.
Then the 6" outer border of the black paisley. Binding, I don't know...Maybe black?

I really need to get off the exclamation point.
It may give people the idea that I'm bright and cheerful all the time....

ooooooooooo.....I like it! I think the idea you have for the border sounds good too. The black binding would bring it all together! Great job!

I'd be tempted to flip the colors. Do a narrow border of the darkest fabric, (the floral?) wider border of the light butterscotch print or medium paisley fabric and then bind it with the darkest fabric (floral) So a small dark frame, a wider medium frame then a final dark binding. In the picture the darker butterscotch looks like a solid and that fabric in a border might look like too much solid?? Hard to tell from the photo.
Your design is really cool. Your friend is lucky to have you during a hard time. Post your finished quilt!! Good luck!

I agree in flipping the colors. Thin dark color then large border of butterscotch. Beautiful fabric and design. Your friend will love it

I'd go with thin black, then butterscotch, too. These colors are sooo soothing. I love it!

YIKES, I though so too. I was trying to make it happen with the fabric available...
It will be yet ANOTHER mad dash to finish this off.
                When will I learn?

The colors are beautiful Sue. I like a dark border next to the blocks to frame them, and then the outside border. Ok, so now you can go and play some more! lol The quilt is very soothing and I'm sure your friend will love it.

I like your original idea. Butterscotch inner border with the paisley outer border. I'm also a fan of using the same border fabric for binding, if you have enough of the paisley?
It's a beautiful design! I may use your idea for one of the donation quilts I make. Thanks!!!
