    Norwegian Woods Layer Cake ...

    Hi!
I fall in love with this gorgeous fabric and bought a layer cake.
But now I don't know what sort of pattern I should choose!
I don't want to cut the fabric in too little pieces, because the scenes of the animals look so beautiful.
Did anybody of you handle with the same fabric?
    THXs for your ideas!
    Heike :)

I like the Double Slice Layer cake pattern. You are only cutting the pieces into 4, so the pattern of the fabrics wouldn't be lost as much.

I'm having the same issue with the Bluebird Park layer cake. The hedgehogs are so cute!

That is gorgeous fabric. I wouldn't want to cut it up small either. How about Jennys Falling Charms design. Just make the sashing half the size of the 10" centers, or 5 inches, instead of the 2.5" inches she used in the video.

I picked out the most masculine fabrics and made a small quilt for my upcoming grandson due in May. I just sashed the 10" squares in a green blender using an orange cornerstone. I used 3 rows across and 4 down.
I then did a double slice with the remaining [sort of] wild fabrics that have lots of fuchsia in them.
Both are about baby or lap size quilts. I have not finished the binding on one and have not quilted the other one yet, it is sandwiched, maybe tomorrow.

How about the piece of cake or the 9 patch pizazz. Both of them where shown this week. I'll go look for the links. They both focus on larger cuts to show off the fabrics.

I recommend the Disappearing Nine Patch. Whenever I buy a charm pack, there are some squares I love (I keep them whole) and some squares that are just blah (those I place in the center of the D9P, so that they get cut in fourths). For the layer cake use your favorite squares in the four corners of the nine patch. That way they will stay whole. You can take a look at the D9P I made using the Gypsy Girl charm packs on the link below.
