    Am I supposed to prewash

I'm new to quilting. Usually I just sew PJS for my kids and I always prewash the material before making those. Am I supposed to prewash before making a quilt. I read a post down a bit that talked about colours bleeding but didn't mention whether or not it was common practice to pre-wash.
    Thanks

Flannels, yes. Suspicious yardage ( inexpensive, loosely woven), maybe. Precuts, no. Good quality quilting cotton shrinks a tiny bit, but usually makes the finished product soft and cuddly. If you are worried about colors running, use Shout Color Catcher sheets in the wash when you wash your finished product.

Loosely based on a true story.
