    Sashing and border???

This is my first quilt project. I've made 40 blocks with a jelly roll. All the charms in the middle I cut from fat quarters.

... but now I'm indecisive what to do. Sashing - yes or no? What color for a border?

My blocks lay out on the floor:

    Trying the sashing ...

Perhaps someone has an idea for me ... THXs!

Try thin black sashing. That would make the blocks pop.

I love your quilt so far! It's going to be stunning no matter what you do with it.

I really like it with the white sashing and the multi-colored border like you have in the second picture. The white opens it up and calms the quilt a bit. Without the white my eyes don't quite know where to land.

And I'm not crazy about the white sashing. Seems a bit stark next to the other fabrics. I do however, like the sashing to give your blocks a little space. Maybe a different color?

I just made that same quilt pattern using jelly rolls and charm squares. I didn't sash or border mine because I didn't think it needed it. Right now, I am drawn to borderless quilts for some reason. I used 56 blocks. I made it for our groomer and it is a good sized couch quilt.

I like how it looks without sashing, but it would probably look good with a dark sashing. Or, instead of a bright white, maybe an offwhite. You have lots of choices, I would say pick would looks good to you and anyone you gift it to will love it

I like the white sashing - it makes each block seem to pop. And I do like the border that is in the picture.

I like it without the sashing, but if you decide to go with it I think black or a darker color would look good. Not sure I love the white, and black would make the colors stand out.

I like it without. The white just looks to stark to me and without it looks elegant. It's pretty!

I vote for no sashing. When you first look at the quilt top, all you see is white. Maybe narrow strips--like honey buns width-- would be better, but I still vote for no sashing. JCY

i think that the black sashing would give it the appearance of a stained glass quilt, because the colors are so bright.

I always like white in a quilt, makes it look sharp and clean, fresh. I've seen a few Amish quilts done with black that I like, but usually for the most part, I don't care for black in quilts.
