Ladies... a quilting cunundrum for you..

My son wants a quilt... queen sized. No points, nothing busy, straight lines. Only three or four colors... Blacks, Reds, Grays and cream.

No... double slice, nixed that. No Big Star... no D9P... Nixed the Chevron... nixed the Five & Dime (I've already bought the charm packs and ruler)... LOL. NOPE on the Fence Rail... Or Log Cabin...

What is left? Come on girls... you can do it... help me out!!

What about square in a square or Phoebe's flower box or the updated coin?

I saw a Phoebe's flower box done with a colorful graphics fabric the other day, it was great! Just call it something different so he doesn't think it's girly! BTW, this lady used Moda Muslin Mate fabric for her white sashing. This fabric is way cool, it has a shine on the tone on tone graphics. I bought the layer cake on DD and just got it, it is way cooler looking than the picture. It might work for the son's quilt.

I'm doing this one right now. But I think it would be nice in four colors. Get past the scrappy in the tute. lol

I had the same restrictions once. I did a Patience Corner with no borders.

What about Drunkards path? No points there, and it would lend itself to 2 of those colors.

Re: Ladies... a quilting cunundrum for you..

What about just making 5 in or 10 in squares or using charm packs/layer cakes to make a simple quilt? My oldest son just wanted solid piece of fabric - no cuts or shapes for the front and back for his quilt.

I made Phoebes Flower Box for my son and dgt-in-law. Perfect quilt for a man and a woman. Easy to make too

These are two quilts that i like for the simplicity and I keep thinking they would be good in my grandsons room.
