In A Bind with this Binding

I do ok with square and rectangular quilts but I'm currently working on a quilt that has on point squares that extend beyond the last border. Like this__/\__ so I have these odd angles that are not 90 degrees. I have pinned and folded and pinned and refolded and can't seem to get the binding around these points. The pattern instructions say to miter corners. But a normal miter doesn't seem to work. Anybody ever do one of these quilts? Does anyone have any ideas on how to fold the binding to get these crazy angles? Thanks for your help.

Might help to post a picture of the quilt so we can actually see what you are dealing with.

The closest I came to what you are dealing with was a quilt with deep scallops. I managed to get the binding around the section in between the scallops with a bit of playing with the binding. Mine had a small fold in that section of the binding.

      Good luck,

Sandy, take one of your rulers and measure the angle of the point. For instance, if your angle is 30 degrees, divide in half (15) and subtract that number from 90 degrees - which would give you 75 degrees. Fold your binding so it is 75 degrees and it should meet up perfectly with the seam of your point.

Sandy Navas, would it be easier if the binding was cut on the bias? I mean would it mold better to the point? Never mind I don't know what I'm talking about. I just was taught that if you had scallops or angles it works better if the binding was cut on the bias.
