Storm at Sea - Has anyone made this quilt pattern?

My LQS is offering an all-day class to make this quilt. I was considering taking the class. Has anyone made this quilt? How difficult is it? I saw some beautiful quilts on line. I think I'd like to make one. JCY

Cathy aka toggpine made one a couple years ago.

I did. Thanks for linking it Karen!

I made mine using these templates Storm at Sea Template at From Marti featuring Quilting with The Perfect Patchwork System I also used the A & B sets. (I use them for a lot of my other blocks too.)
Using these templates I didn't have to paper or foundation piece the blocks. I can see where those methods would be very useful on the small blocks I have seen in other quilts.

The quilt involves all straight seams, so it isn't as hard as it may look. Accuracy with your seams will be very important to having things matchup like they should.
          I'd say go for it!

I did one at a LQS as a class, and it was really not difficult to do. I did invest in the correct rulers, rather than using templates. Your LQS should be able to help you out with that. Mine is in my album if you are interested in having a look. Looks very difficult, but it isn't. Good luck!!

I did one recently in blues and greens. Did it all by foundation piecing. Time consuming but not difficult. My quilt is in my album if you want to check that one out also. Good luck with yours.

Storm at Sea is a beautiful traditional quilt. I would take the class if I were you. It has lots of movement and is perfect for showcasing beautiful fabric.

Here is mine. I saw one like it on Quilters Cache and copied it. It was fun to do and all paper piecing. Took me forever to decide on all the different shades of purple and how I would do it. Now it will take me forever to decide how to quilt it. I have a year and a half to get it done for my son who will be ordained a Catholic Priest in 2015. So if anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

Pretty, but far to many triangles to deal with for my liking. Adjust it to use HST"s and I'm there!
