Tips and tricks for sewing pinked edges

I'm getting ready to start piecing with my first charm pack. What are your tips and tricks for sewing on pinked edges? Do you line up your needle with the outside of the edge or the inside? Any thing else I should know before I begin?

Measure the charms to check they're 5" square. If they are, I ignore the pinked edge and treat it as if it were straight, and measure the 1/4" from the top of the pinked point.
