Throwing it in reverse? (maybe HV specific?)

I was watching the beautiful and talented Jenny Doan making three tote bags from one charm pack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7i6Wrl4rZ8

At about 8:45 she is sewing with her (presumably digital rather than mechanical) sewing machine and she is able to press something and go immediately to reverse for back-stitching. I could do this on my mechanical machine but my HV Sapphire 835 requires me to come to a complete stop before it will reverse. Is this just a thing with HV machines or am I doing something wrong? Is there a less tedious way to get into reverse without fully stopping?
Loosely based on a true story.

I have to stop my Janome before reversing....sort of like a car.

My bernina reverses without stopping. Just press the button.

When my Babylock is in quilt mode it won't reverse at all. Never really thought about it before. Had my machine for a couple of years before I found out how to reverse it in the first place. The curved arrow button on my machine does a locking stitch in quilt mode and a reverse stitch in sewing mode. Weird, but true.

I'm pretty sure I have been able to push the reverse button before coming to a complete stop. I will have to test it to make sure.

I'm thinking about it, and I think all my machines will reverse while going forward. I have a mixture of mechanical and electronic machines.

All my machines will reverse while sewing, but on my 2 Pfaff combo machines I have to make sure I don't have ANYTHING at all programmed, because the reverse button is also the start program button.

Of course the only reason I use reverse while sewing is to tie off a seam, and on those 2 machines one of the programs IS the tie off, so it is kind of a moot point.

I don't know, I just always stopped on my Viking. My Babylock has an embroidery on it right now but you have me curious to check that out. I was making clothing and I don't think I would trust not stopping.

I can just hit the button on mine and it backstitches. The interesting part is if I am sewing balls to the walls, it will backstitch fast.....if I am sewing super slow, it backstitches at that speed.

My Pfaff has just one button for reverse and tie off. I have to stop it to be sure I'm using the right one. My Janome doesn't have to stop. Just press and hold the reverse button.

My pfaff is computer and I have to stop it before reversing...but I have a mechanical Necchi that I can be sewing and throw it in reverse.

I have a brand new Brother Dream Creator and I don't have to stop to reverse, just push the reverse button, sew backward, release and sew forward all without stopping.

I had forgotten about the tie-off function. I can also do that on my Singer w/out stopping.
