Problem with Jelly Roll Jam Quilt

Ladies,

I am new to this site, but look forward to sharing and learning from you all. I really enjoy the tutorials, but, for me, it's a work in progress.
I am having trouble with the Jelly Roll Jam Quilt tutorial I saw on Utube. After all the piecing and cutting, I think the seams are not exactly 1/4" and it isn't lining up perfectly and the blocks are not exactly the same size. Can I salvage this or what do I do with it????

Hi Judi
The most important thing to remember in quilting is the 1/4 inch seam. Do you have a 1/4 inch foot on your machine? If not, I highly recommend you getting one. They aren't expensive & you can find them at pretty much any sewing store.

How far off are the blocks? If they are just a smidge off you may be able to redo them & stretch the pieces just a bit to make them match. If they are off a lot then you might want to take them apart & resew with the 1/4 inch seam.
It all depends on your tolerance for imperfection. Sometimes I rip things out & start over. Sometimes I just let it go & try not to make the same mistake on the next quilt.
Whatever you decide remember this is supposed to be fun & there are no quilt police to come after you for mismatched seams. Lol

I'm not sure what pattern you are speaking of and if you could post a picture, it would be much easier to offer suggestions. I tried to find a tutorial on this quilt, but i'm not finding one. Gotta link?

I've been tempted to make it with the jelly roll I got as DD. Might make the 3 Dudes one, but I've heard a there is a lot of problems with that one as well. Might make a variation on the Jelly Roll Race, with half strips mixed up with straight joins. Maybe with 2 1/2" squares thrown in between strips. I guess we'll see...

We made a Jelly Roll Jam for a sample at the Fall forum retreat. It was pretty simple to do. Yes, it is a tutorial from the fat quarter shop, very comprehensive tutorial.

You need to make each block square and the same size. Trim them to be 9 squares and you should be OK.
