    Quilts for Kids

Downy is helping Quilts for Kids to make it very easy for people to donate hand made quilts by sending free quilt kits. All you have to do is add the batting and put it together and mail it back...what could be easier than that?
Here's the website check it out I requested one and received the kit in about three days.

Here it is I finally got it done and with only one slight mishap !!

I am just finishing sewing on the binding on one of these ! Yes, I can attest to the fact that the kits come quickly with all you need except batting. They go together quickly. I meander quilted mine in an afternoon.

                Re: Quilts for Kids

I got my kit in the mail - in a few days! I'm hoping to put it together the week between Christmas and New Years when I'm off from school. The kit comes with instructions and everything is precut so it should be easy/peasy. It even comes with backing. I should be able to find plenty in my stash to make a 2nd one and can't wait to get started on them. I will have them back out to the organization by the first of the year.

Thanks for linking the site to us Rougealar - I've sent the link on to a friend of mine who will do one next year for them.

That is soooo cute. Nice bright colors! What a good job you did! I requested one a long time ago and never got it. Maybe I will try again.
                  Thanks for the reminder!

                        Re: Quilts for Kids

I've got mine all pin basted and ready to machine quilt. And then the photo will come. Came down with a cold so that is slowing me up a bit. It only took me about 6 hours to sew the top together and that was with lunch and dinner preparations, running my daughter here and there and talking on the phone. So, it goes pretty fast. I'm thinking I might try the zigzag stitch like they suggested where you pull the back of the binding around to the front. I made a copy of the instructions since they want theirs back so I can make another one or two later this year.

                            Re: Quilts for Kids

I just finished one top from the material they sent, then made one for my soon to be born granddaughter, so I want to make one from the scraps from that quilt. Once I quilt them, I will post pics. I promise, it won't be too long

Here's mine. After I sent it back, they sent me a nice email thanking me for it - and let me know it arrived safe and sound.
