    Fabric

I understand that for binding you cut the binding at a 45 degree (I think it's called on the bias?) I'm sure it has to do with the increased stretchiness of fabric cut that way. Why and when should you cut this way, and when is it important not to cut this way? I've heard this referenced before, but never fully understood it. How does this apply to other types of sewing?

You can use a straight binding for a straight quilt. If it's curved then you have to do a biased binding. Do you have a binding tool? That helps when you get to the end of the binding. Watch Jenny's tutorials on binding the quilt and on the binding tool. It will really help. Watch the tutorials.

        Hi Lin
here is a link to an article on binding
        http://quiltbug.com/articles/binding-basics.htm
I have made bias binding but prefer the straight grain. There are some tutorials out there on how to cut to make a long continuous bias binding. I've done this but would have to be refreshed on the method. It is in how it is laid out and cut on the 45 degree angle. And do get the binding too. You just can't believe how much easier it makes your binding lie flat.

I think Jenny makes a reference to cutting something, I've watched all the tutorials, and I can't remember which block. Basically she said that one o the cuts might bother some people, (but it didnt bother her) because of being cut on the bias-but it was for a block. I've only binded using the binding tool and Her tutorial, but I was just wondering more about block cuts and sewing in general.
