I do fairly well, but there are times when they don't quite match. The only advice I have is definitely pin at the cross-section. Once I pin it I double check to make sure it's in the right spot. I know sewing over pins is supposed to be taboo, but I run right over the pins at the intersection. I make sure the pin goes directly into the intersection and that I'm sewing directly over where the pin goes into the fabric. My machine handles running over pins without any problem. Once in a while I'll break a needle but it's rare.
Goodbye Europe! Hello California! Home sweet home.
Also, meant to thank you and all those who have taken the time to post recipes. I've found some that sound delicious and plan to give them a try when I'm back in London. I thought food prices were bad there, but shopping here in Norway... I was shocked at the prices!!!

I have pinned, nested, double checked and by golly, still some of my seams do not match up. Any advice or secrets you want to share?
Thanks,
Dianne
Dianne, don't feel bad. I have the same trouble. I square up, pin, nest, check, sew, rip, and then quite often just give up . . . they are all 'design features'. If I ever got a seam perfect I'd probably pass out.

I love cooking, but just started to quilt so I have more recipes than quilting advice.
Sorry, no secrets here either. I think we all miss a few seams.
Your best bet is to keep your seam allowance as accurate and consistent as you can. If the piecing is all as close to the same size as possible, the blocks will turn out more square. The more square, the easier it is to match up the seams. Just keep nesting & pinning!

My seams have gotten better since I bought the quarter inch foot, that may help you too if you don't already have. That's the best thing I ever bought for my sewing machine.
mine have gotten much better since the 1/4 inch foot. also do you press you fabric in opposite directions when you do the nesting. I will also square up each block before I put them together to make sure they are all the same size
Sometimes when the blocks are a little off put the faric that is longer on the bottom and let the feed dogs east in the fullness. Works in sew clothes it might work in Quilting. You could try, there's always the seam ripper lol Linda

You're right the 1/4" foot definitely makes a big difference!

I agree with all the advice given and that 1/4inch foot is key.....but somedays it just doesn't match up like others, so then I go cook and bake and come back later! SuzyQue
a hint----try sewing your 1/4 inch on graph paper and make sure it is an accurate 1/4 inch! Not all feet are accurate!
I don't know if this really helps but to it seems to. I match the seams first and then pin the rest. Most times it works. But, there are times the it is still a little off.
