    Machine suggestions?

I'm just getting started quilting. In fact, I haven't sewen anything since Home Economics class over 25 years ago.

Since I don't even own a sewing machine, I tought I'd get one that is well-suited for quilting. I can afford to spend $250-$350.

A friend has offered to give me a White Quilter's Star 1780 that needs about $75 in TLC. Does anyone have an opinion on this machine? What other suggestions do you all have?

    Thanks for you advice!

I can't really give you any suggestions about what machine to buy, but I am taking this opportunity to welcome you to MSQC's forum.

Buying a sewing machine leads to much concideration really, its sort of llike buying a new pair of shoes hehehe,i would definately do a search on line for that model of machine you have, it may be worth paying for the TLC to fix it.

it would be cheaper to get that machine fixed than buying a new one. white is a good machine
