    Sewing Machine Questions....

Ok, I am new to quilting and I have been looking for a good quilting machine. Here is my problem, we really don't have any shop close that sell sewing machines. I have been looking online, at a couple different types. And I have some questions. If you were looking for a machine what type would you want. I have been looking at a Janome MC6500P, Janome Mc6600, Janome MC7700QCP and a Brother Laura Ashley NX2000. But everytime I call to talk about them they are like you need to come and see them. That would be great but most of the shops are hours away. If anyone knows anything about any off these machines and could give me a little insight that would be greatly appreciated. I would love the Janome MC7700QCP, I just don't think that I should spend that kind of money. And if one of the others would work just as well, that would be great.
Thanks for all of your help . Or if you know of one that is totally better than the ones I am mentioning that would be wonderful.
    Thank you Lydia

I am blessed, and pray that you are to.

Lydia---I have the Janome 6600-----about a year old. LOVE it! It does everything I need and more. I love the accufeed foot! I quilt lots of little projects with it, but have yet to do a full quilt. I looked at the 7700------I think that is the newest one, an upgrade from mine, but I wouldn't like it for a couple of reasons. I don't care for the way the spool fits on. It would be difficult to use cone thread or 2 threads in a double needle. I can't remember right now what the other downer was for me. I did like the way it sensed if you had the straight stitch needle plate on and you chose a wide stitch, it would warn you. That would save me needles----I sometimes forget to check! And it changed the needle plate for you. That is cool. I would want to play with this more, but I doubt if I would upgrade. I do love what I have. SuzyQue

Thanks so much for the information. I would love to be able to go into a store, and play with them.
Maybe one day soon, I can make a trip to a shop.

Lydia---another thought--the 7700 has the freearm--a plus---I do miss that with the 6600, but not needed for quilting. You do need to go to the store and play. It will really help you decide what are the important features for you and what feels right. Good luck! SuzyQue

I have the 7700. Purchased in Dec. So far I love it. It's very good for FMQ which I am trying to master. Sews wonderful. At first I thougt it was cumbersome to change the feet, accufeed etc. but after a few changes it's really simple. This might deter you if you just had a try for yourself at the shop but don't let it. Really does almost everything a quilter could want in a machine.
