    Machine quilting settings and binding

Okay, so I've taken the plunge.
Er, at least into pot holders, but as I went I found some areas that I had questions on.

When you free motion machine quilt what stitch should I use? A regular straight stitch or my machine also had a "hand quilt" stitch. While working on my pot holder I tried both and the top looks good on both, but the back side looks very different, and I'm not sure if the tension is weird or if it's supposed to look that way with the "hand quilt" stitch. What stitches do you all use?

Also I bound the potholder using the method in Jenny's MSQC's tutorial, but she doesn't talk about how to hand stitch the back side corners. What's the best way to do those?
I'm very excited with how my practice machine quilting projects went, which I was very nervous about, so YAY!

Way to go! Keep up the practice and soon you'll have it down pat! I don't have the answers for you but I'm sure someone will help you.

I remember having to adjust tension when using the machine quilting setting on my machine. I don't use it anymore just because I like the look of the regular machine quilting. I am glad for you that you made your potholders even with not knowing how the example was handstitched. Forums like this are great for getting advise and examples, but it is good when you venture out to use your ideas. I imagine that is how new ideas and patterns come along!
