    What color border?

I have been working on this scrappy logcabin for five months and finally finished the top today Now I need to decide on a color for the border... Would you be so kind as to take a look and let me know what you suggest Thanks!

    Re: What color border?

I would do a yellow mock piping with the turquoise about 1 1/2 inch and then a darker patterned piece about 2 1/2 inches around.

Love the colors in your quilt? Sandy's idea sounds good. I would finish this in a color that you love.

I love your quilt, Angie! I think Sandy has a good suggestion.... although I don't know what mock piping is :-).

Is this what you are talking about for the "mock piping"

              Re: What color border?

The piping would be pretty but I'd do something in brown it would sharpen all the colors even more and make them pop. Brown and turquoise go good together. And would bring all the other colors out. Just my silly opinion from someone who doesn't know anything. But I worked with colors with my knitting for so long and usually did good, if I do say so myself! LOL Hugs, Jan

All the suggestions are really good!
If it were me, I would choose my favorite color out of the bunch you have there and then put a brown on the outside, like she said up there - the brown would make all the colors pop.

                Hugs,

                    Re: What color border?

My first instinct would be to go with a turquoise or a blue. That would keep the quilt nice and bright!

Love the idea of brown and turquoise - also looked at the tutorial and will try it soon (I hope) on a doll quilt. Thanks for the link!

I will set it in a big white border 5 to 6 inches and create a bias from all scraps fo the material you have used in the quilt. Tthat will make frame for your quilt.
Post some pics when you have finished the quilt.

I love your log cabin quilt!! I agree with Magx....I think a white border & a bias binding made from
scraps from your quilt would be gorgeous! Maybe adding the mock piping too would also look great.
I hope we get to see the 'after' pics when you're done.
If at first you DO succeed, try not to look so surprised.

I vote for turquoise and brown. It's a very lovely quilt! Flannel for the backing?
