    Square up a quilt

I'm wondering if Jenny's ever done a tutorial on squaring up a quilt LEFT-HANDED. If not, she really needs to! I've watched many tutorials, but they're all done by right-handed quilter's, and I just can't convert it to left-handed. I can't be the only one!

I have 2 rotary cutters,1 blade on opposite side of the other rotary cutter, and swap hands cutter for what need, saves moving fabric, but have learnt to multi task cutting, still cannot write with right hand thou brain will not allow.
squaring up left handed start bottom left of quilt and go clock wise round quilt hope that helps

you know, that is a fabulous question. i watched them doing a quilt as you go hexagon today and one was left handed and one right. even so when folding the backing over each hexagon, neither one fixed the last miter to go the same direction as the others. i always do that. I am not left handed but sometimes find cutting difficult because i always put the fabric to my right and cut on the left. some quilters do it the opposite. good luck on this.

Your quilt doesn't know which hand you cut with to attempt "square." The method is the same, but probably cut on different sides of the ruler, with the blade oriented differently. Left hand square is the same as right hand square.

Quilters seem to describe "square" differently than other DIY'ers. There are only two measurements to check your quilt for square. That's corner to corner diagonally. Those two measurements must be the same or it ain't square. You can make the corners square, but if they aren't in a proper relationship to one another, it's not square. Does perfect square matter on a quilt as it would a sheet of plywood? Apparently not because I don't see true square or rectangles, when talking about "square." If it looks square, it's close enough for quiltin' and bindin'.

Ask your favorite carpenter how to "square" using the diagonal measurements. Again it's the only true square.
You gots to risk it to gets the biscuit-

I'm guilty of just folding the quilt and cutting. 😉 You could get a lazer

Can you try watching the videos in a mirror, maybe that will trick your brain into figuring out how to do it?

One of Jenny's very early videos showed how to trim a quilt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdKZ_30lxJ0.

Man Sewing did a longer video on squaring up a quilt, but he's right handed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcgOsoWXy2A.

The Crafty Gemini did one as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHteSUaU0yQ.
