strip quilting

I personally would not want to strip piece the backing of any quilt. Too much trouble getting the backing smooth when sandwiching & pin basting it. Also, all those seams make more bulk when doing the quilting. If at all possible, I use one section of fabric. I've had to piece occasionally, if my backing fabric was not quite long enough, but that's only 2 seams to deal with.

If your strips were equal widths to start but ended up different widths when measuring the ends, you need some help sewing a consistent seam allowance. I don't succumb to the myth that as each strip is added, it should be sewed in the opposite direction to the pair proceeding it.

strip quilting
I am making a back for a quilt and I want to use strips. When I get to the end of the strip do I start at that end or the beginning again. I made one starting from the beginning and it was too wide at the end. Was this my mistake. Can someone help me. ThanksTags: None
