Don't know why not, its all cotton.

You sure can! For example, I recently did the calculations on Jenny's Boredered Squares quilt and discovered that I could make the quilt top bigger by combining one layer cake with two (I think) Charm Square packs. Or I can imagine doing a D9P quilt top with a Charm Square border.

Let us know what you decide to make!

Size wise, you would have to do some trimming. I'm not sure if that is what you are asking, but if you made a 4 patch out of charm squares it would measure 9.5" by 9.5". To sew that to a layer cake square you would need to trim the layer cake down to 9.5 by 9.5.

        Before you speak,
        T - is it TRUE?
        H - is it HELPFUL?
        I - is it INSPIRING?
        N - is it NECESSARY?
        K - is it KIND?

Layer cakes can be cut the equivalent to 4 charm packs.

If you mean together, there is some, but what I found they look about the same.

I once used a jelly roll and had to use a layer cake to fill in for not having enough jelly rolls. Work out perfect, just glad the 10" length didn't bother in the cutting instructions
