Quilting question

I have a quilt block that I finished. It is a 7 in. square block with an appliqued circle in the middle. When I put in the polyester batting and the cotton back piece together and then quilted around the circle with a regular stitch, the circle was flat and the back of the block was puffy. What could have caused this? I wanted the top to be a little puffy but it wasn't. THis is a picture of the back of the block. I wanted the front to look like this, not the back.

i would have to guess. tention. try to boost it up a tish. like from say... 3 to 4. also is it pinned enough.

It looks to me that you didn't have the layers tight enough. You have some puckering as well as the puffiness. I would tear the stitches then start over making sure that you keep the bottom layer really really taut when you are quilting the layers together.
