weekly topic for 5/10

soooooooooooo I've been laid up in bed since friday...going to the doc tomorrow to find out what is wrong with me...I've lost my voice and feel like a truck has run me over...thank goodness for wireless!!

and so I've had plenty of time to think about the question for this week...

is there anything about quilting that you don't like? what is something that you would rather have punji sticks poked under your nail than have to do when working on quilts?

hmmmm....reading a pattern has to be it for me! I DON'T understand them (very well)..... :roll:


Seriously.....why can't I just cut and sew and have it magically appear as an amazing quilt!?!?!?!?! Yup, patterns...I wish I could do without them....but i can't!

I'm going to have to agree on patterns. I'd say 8 out of 10 times I have a hard time understanding them. Give me a tutorial ANY day.

I don't like picking out stitches...yuck! but, I am learning (sometimes the hard way) ops: that it is better to pick out a bad seam than to leave it in. A few minutes of icky picking could make or break your quilt! It is so irritating when you work so hard on something and when your all done...all you can see is that point that is off or that one cooked seam! So, yes...I hate to pick stitches, but, I will do it if I have to!

thanks guys...I went this morning and the doc said I have strep and it has caused me to lose my voice (much to my family's joy haha)...I can't go to work until wednesday...boohoo...we end school on thursday and graduation is thursday night...at least I'll be well for that.

as far as my least favorite thing...that would have to be...mathematical measurements...I hate having to figure out the 7/8ths stuff for HSTs...and figuring piecing for a completed square size....and estimating yardage....drives me batty...

Ugh!! I hate strep...poor you!! Soon though, you'll start to feel better. (those antibiotics are amazing, no?)

I am deathly afraid of y seams! Scare me to death! I always end up with gaps or puckers! :x Nasty!
