So i have came to the part where i am sandwiching and getting ready to stitch in the ditch..but im not to sure what or how to do it?? I have been told thats th easy way. Im hoping you all can give me some help
I believe that's when you actually stitch right in the seam line itself.
I prefer to stitch right beside the seam line, about 1/8th" or 1/4" away. That gives your quilt a little puffiness, but not so much as to make it yucky looking.

Hugs,
I prefer this method as well. I stitch on each side. For some it seems double the sewing, but for me it turns out better. Stitching right in the ditch isn't always easy. You could also do big X's across each square.
I agree. "In the Ditch" is harder than it sounds. I am for the 1/4"out myself. I can't seem to keep the seam open flat enough to keep all of my stitches in the ditch, then it looks sloppy.
Good luck!

I have a sewing machine foot designed for ditch stitching, it has a blade down the centre that guides along the 'fold' of the seam, the needle is immediately behind it so with the blade running down the seam the needle goes into the ditch effortlessly. It does not mean that you can't ride up over the seam if you rush too much or whatever but it sure makes ditch stiching so much easier. I wish I'd had it years ago.
I have a similar 'blade' foot for my 1/4 inch, the edge of the fabric sits against the blade at exactly a 1/4". Again it can ride up over the fabric if you are not paying attention but the ability to sew that 1/4" so much faster with the guide is fabulous.

The new sewing machine I want has a 'in the ditch foot' too. I can't wait to try it out someday!
