    Finishing a stacked coin quilt

I am new to quilting and my first project is to make a stacked coin quilt for my son. I have the strips sewn together and am getting ready to put the shashing on. My next question is once I pin the quilt top, batting and backing on how should I finish it. I am looking for something fairly easy. I don't know how to machine quilt yet. Any suggestions? Thanks, Elisabeth

Some types of machine quilting are easy. It depends on how large it is and if you have the necessary feet. You could also send it to be quilted. Or hand-tie it.

I had read that one way was to 'stitch in the ditch'. I think I can do this. How would I finish the quilt this way? What I am wondering is where would I sew and what parts would I sew around?

If you stitch in the ditch you are simply following seam lines that you have already sewn on your quilt top. you can also do channel stitching (which I have done on a coin quilt) where you just stitch straight lines from one end to the other...typically following the same direction as your coin columns.

          Michele-
How far a part did you stitch the channel stitches. I like that idea. I can sew a straight line!

I did the channels about 2 inches apart.
