Excellent article and I agree with it all... I have 9 machines,, and each is used for a purpose,, my most used being a Janome 1600, much like the Juki she refers to... only straight stitching but high speeds, I bought it for my quilt frame and have since gotten a machine with larger throat for the frame..my most favorite, that was given to my DD is an old Elna Jubilee from 1980 that just doesn't quit.. another high speed style,,i didn't know it at the time, but have found since that the slower machines drive me nuts...Leah is spot on with her thinking... for a young girl she's learned all that took me over 40 yrs to learn..

Interesting to hear other people's perspectives!

I have different requirements and expectations from my machines than she does, but definitely agree that there is no ONE machine that can do everything.

Here's the machine that she fell in love with, the Janome Horizon 7700. She then upgraded to the Janome Horizon 8900 and loves it for fmq'ing.

I took her advice and bought the Janome Horizon 8200, it has an 11 inch throat and I love it!

I find it interesting to hear from others and why they choose what they choose. It was a great article. For my current sewing machine hunt, I started with a list as I seem to be a list person. I have sewn since I was 7 so I had an idea of what I liked and what I don't like, I worked on what I considered the sewing machine must have xyz while ghi was nice but not a deal breaker. I also knew what I wanted my new machine's main focus - quilting and garment sewing. And I did research and asked many quilters for their opinions. There are some really neat sewing machines out there with some cool features. But I kept focused on my list and found what I believe to be the best machine for me at this time.
