Back in the day I used to cover hangers but never used fabric strips. Thanks for the link.

Those hangers reminded me, when I needed padded hangers, I just cut strips from left over batting, about 1 - 2" wide. Wrapping not to tight, I wrapped around the hanger, it prevented creases on my quilt tops, and was completely non-slip. I just tucked the ends in. The padded shoulders worked great on clothing too.

We made padded coat hangers in high school homemeck class.
We wrapped batting around the hanger then made a sleeve that fit over the top of the hanger with a small opening at the center top.
The pretty fabric adds a nice touch.
That was 50 years ago and
still use it on knit tops. I always say I’m going to make more but always working on a quilt. Just use the plastic hangers.
